Give us some DETAILS and maybe we can make it reappear. Then give us some other DETAILS to the problems you would like to discuss.
Just a hint.....the more info you give the better, and more accurate, the help will be. Giving a short brief is no way to get valued assistance.
And what does the limited information you supplied have to do with your title, "A well priced mEchanic" ?

First , welcome to the site !
E for electric S for steering C for control , now drive that HHR to your local GM dealer, there is an extended warranty to replace the electric power steering motor. This should be no charge to you

Sorry oldblue, but ESC is for Electronic Stability Control. Probably won't have anything to do with the electric power steering motor or the extended warranty of it.
From the owners manual:
The vehicle has an Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
system which combines antilock brake, and traction and
stability control systems that help the driver maintain
directional control of the vehicle in most driving
conditions.
When the vehicle is started and begins to move, the
system performs several diagnostic checks to ensure
there are no problems. The system may be heard or felt
while it is working. This is normal and does not mean
there is a problem with the vehicle. The system
should initialize before the vehicle reaches 20 mph
(32 km/h).
If the system fails to turn on or activate, the ESC/TCS
light comes on, and the ESC OFF and/or SERVICE ESC
message displays.

Sorry for being rather blunt, but from the lack of details, typos and vagueness in the initial post, I suggest that the new member is probably best to take it to a dealer for diagnostics and repairs, rather than "discussing" the issues over the internet.

The first thing to do would be to scoot to the auto parts chain of your choice and have them "Pull the Codes". 99.9% of auto parts store will pull the OBD II trouble codes for free, and then give you a printout showing the codes found, like "P0010" for example.
You can post the codes up here, and we'll interpret them for you. Or you can head to one of the two Chevrolet dealerships I personally recommend here in our part of North Carolina.
Since you're in Salisbury, Team Chevrolet is in your backyard, or if you don't mind a 45 minute drive. There's the dealership I use exclusively, Ben Mynatt Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC in Concord.
