what happens when you open your door?

Might this be something that is different between 06 and 07? Or am I completely missing something here.
Are you talking about when you walk up to the car and open the door to get in? When I do that the odometer lights up. But that's it. No radio or other dash lights.
When turning the car off and opening the door the odometer lights up. The radio turns off. But the cigarette lighter/accessory plug stays hot.
This is an 07 with XM radio.

When I click on the remote to unlock the doors as I'm walking towards the car all the lights go in, interior/exterior/dash, everything. But they usually all go off before I open the door. When I do open the door only the odometer lights up. I've never used the key to open the door, so not sure what would happen then.
