So took my car to the dealer thursday for a new rim and aux vacuum pump. After having it all day said it would be done friday. Well today they said that they were haveing issues w/ the Serial Data Line and it would be done monday. So what the heck is this and how do they have issues w/ it?? Could this be a big problem, or is it minor like they are letting on? They left a message and said we coud call if we have questions. I did not call, but should I monday afternoon?? Help a person not to smart w/ engines understand.

 

Well I guess no one else knows. I am assuming the serial data line is the wires/cables that go to the engine computer. Not sure if I am right on that but hopefully it is not a biggie

 

A layman answer would be; These are the cables that data flows through for the modules to communicate with the computers.

I think they have miswired your vehicle and although there may be a communication problem with the data links, it was probably caused by the tech who did the upgrade.

 

So basically the last nail in the coffin for not taking it to this dealer again. Already said I would go to the other one in town, I will be asking them if it is somehting they did. Will see what they say. Thsi dealers service department sucks.
