Whistle sound after Hahn Charge Pipe Install?

Ok so I changed my oil and finally put on the hot side piping yesterday. I was sure to make sure that all the piping was clamped down to the best of my abilities. Now under boost (5lbs+) I get a whistling type noise.

Is this boost leak? The car feels pretty normal so I was thinking I would loose a lot of performance if I had a leak?

Any help would be great, I have read that sometimes the air flowing thru the pipes can make a noise but this is somewhat loud, def noticeable.

Any ideas?

The whistle you are hearing, is the bpv, you should hear a little something like a whistle. Try just giving it a little pedal then. Let off. Should be a little whistle, as the system bleeds pressure. You should also be able to hear the turbo spool up now as well.

if you're boosting 5 psi under than you probably have a leak, i'd go through all the connectors and spray them with some WD-40 or PB Blaster and move them around and maybe then they will seal properly. it doesn't sound like you have a very large leak, i know when i cracked my IC i couldn't boost at all.

Hope this helps

No it is boosting up to 15lbs (before my retune I was hitting 22lbs but thats another issue) I had my Dad power break it and you can only hear it when you are away from the motor, aka I believe it to be the air simply flowing faster and in different way than the stock pipes making it whistle.

Car still pulls hard and holds boost so after reading a bunch of diff threads Im going with the theory that it's simply the airflow.

A boost leak would kill performance right?

Yes a boost leak will cutback on performance. I think chevyguy just misread your post. Abs plastic is great for sound reduction, so is the 3/16 neoprene tube. By going with metal piping you lose a lot of turbidity and the thinner wall allows for better sound transfer. If you change out the cold side you will hear even more,.

I hear a whistle with my dejon piping. Mainly over 10psi it almost sounds like a whine. It's just due to the piping. I have no boost leaks and no loss of performance

Most people pull the bumper to install cold side, it can be done without pulling the bumper, but I recommend undoing the two bolts holding the radiator bottom in. this will give you the extra room you need. It is a little bit of a contortionist job to wiggle in the pipe but can be done. The front sway bar gets in the way a bit, and removing the vacuum tube from up top is a knuckle buster. Takes about two hours, , most of that is spent making sure it's not backwards.

Its way easier to remove the bumper to get to the connection at the intercooler
