Whistling noise from rear door
Moderator please don't move this thread as its not the same issue as the helicopter noise thread you added it too.
Hello everyone,
New to the forum and the HHR
First let me say I am really impressed on all the information on this site! Nice to see this kind of following for the HHR.
Anyways, my main issue with our new HHR is a wind noise coming from the passenger side door when I put the drivers side window down. It sounds like a whistle or squeeling sound and it only happens at over about 40 mph. I can get it to stop if i roll down that window at least half way but Its WAY annoying. It only happens when the a FRONT window is down at least a few inches and all the other windows are shut.
I used the search function on the site and found a few posts that referred to others having this problem but couldn't find the actual post about it and a possible fix.
Thanks in advance!
Todd

I have the same problem it is your side mirror cap. It comes lil loose and wind whirls in them creating whistle. While not driving, push gently in front if it jiggles, then it it. or while driving place hand on side of it where the cap meets the mirror whistle should stop.

You'll be whistleless soon!
I also used the keyword "whistle" and found a few more.

Okay, I replaced my 2007 chrome mirror caps with the black 2006 style caps. I noticed when I removed the chrome caps, that on the top clips they had a piece of 3m tape/foam on each one, whereas the black caps didnt. I just wonder if this was GM's fix for the whistleing to make that clip hold firmer for 2007, just as you putting your finger on the same top area. You could allways pull the caps off and try it.

Thanks, I found those threads too
But the sound isn't coming from the mirrors and I don't have the chrome caps on them. I swear its coming from the rear door seal or window seal, not sure which.
I might have to schedule a trip to the dealer and have them figure it out Just didn't want to have to go through all that if there was something simple I could check or do
Meanwhile, back to the web to find some rims.......

I haven't experienced the problem you describe, but it sounds like there is a gasket not sealing properly or the door is out of alignment. ... or
Wasn't there a thread or post somewhere where someone was having a similar problem with the driver's door (I think) and it turned out the door was a little warped and the window frame area needed to be bent just a little?
Not as ominous as it sounds...
Maybe one of our Searchbots can find something...
