Look, let the guy remove the belt and see if it spins over.
If there is wrong cams and now bent valves we will know.
All that head work was done 8k miles ago. Not going to be "wrong" cams if he's been driving it that long..
He went through a scenario of some wrong head and timing parts and timing being off on the rebuild. Read his other thread if you want all the details.

Ok well i took the belt off still doesn't turn over. I took front cover off all. Timing components are intact and not broken. Still can't rotate the engine by hand. So I can't check all the fly wheel bolts to the torque converter. But I can see three of them and they don't have any signs of damage. I have the starter out of the car and when I jump the starter everything works on it like it should. Im thinking either rod bearings or the main barings failed and it locked up. I have put a 2 foot breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt and gave it everything my 200lbs body could give it and it will not rotate. So I'm going to drop the oil pan and take lose the rod caps and see if it turns after that if not then. Im thinking crankshaft .

I have blown engins in three different cars and all of them made some sort of loud noise when it happened. This engine at 4000 rpm just stopped no noise no nothing it was like someone turned the key off.. im baffled. Think this is the end of the hhr for me. I dont have any place to pull the motor out. That's why I didn't change the main bearings when I did the work on it last year.

I don’t think you’re gonna find it in the bottom end , the valves kissing the pistons will stop and jam it up tight

The engine and transmission drop out the bottom, fairly easily

and a variation in post #54 and #56

Oldblue. Why would you think valves vs pistons ? He did state he looked and the timing components were intact.

What bothers me is the statement "I've blown engines in 3 different cars". Kinda makes you wonder.

Bent valves keep in pistons from moving, a spun rod or main bearing might not be the culprit, I’m just saying after he drops the oil pan and if he doesn’t see the rod bearings are the issue, pull the cylinder head, just to confirm.
let’s face facts, if the valves hit the pistons and locked up the engine, the pistons are most likely damaged, and the head has to come off anyway, after the pistons and rods are out, if the crankshaft turns then , great , order parts and start the reassembling process.
the explanation of events in post#1 “ I heard a loud click”has me thinking top end , but hay I could be wrong.

Thanks Steve. Was just curious as why you thought that. I understand the reasoning.

Now, if I could just figure out why my Ryobi weed eater engine locked up the other day. Pulled it apart and saw metal shavings in the crank area. Found a piece broken off the rod around the wrist pin..........Not sure of the cause.
Cured it by going and getting a new Echo trimmer.
