I had to replace mine too. PPG has two versions for the HHR, one has the tint stripe at the top. That's the one I got. Love it!

I've seen the PPG with the tint.
I was sorta hoping mine would crack soon so I can switch to that.
I find the glair is way to bright on the stock glass.
I hate to spend money on tinting the top few inches with those little dots stuck all over the glass.

Mine just cracked last night. It was snowing really bad and cold and I had the defrosters on and while I was sitting at a red light I heard a giant snap. I wasn't even moving and nothing hit the widshield. It has to be a stress crack. It is about 4 inches left of the RW mirror and starts at the very top of the windshield. The crack is about 5 inches long and then does a 90 degree turn for about another inch. Yikes! I will stop by the dealership in the morning and if they wont fix it, I will go the insurance route and get the PPG.

Good luck with it, though!
That's the coating GM uses on numerous windshields. It pits from sand, etc. My HHR is all pitted, and my new 'Nox is doing the same thing. As for "stress cracks", still have the same one I was born with.

I've had two OEM windshields, both junk. The PPG shaded that I have now is MUCH better optically and much more resistant to chipping, breaking, and scratching. I am on the freeway every day. The PPG has already taken a couple of hits and has performed beautifully.

Had my OEM windshield replaced a month ago when it cracked after being hit by an U.F.O. Replaced with the PPG.
Be sure you have glass insurance. List price, installed almost $1000
