I have had my 2008 HHR SS now for 11 years now and continue to love this car. But the last couple summers here in Florida my windshield wipers will stop working during a rain storm. Or will start up working when only in the intermittent selection. I had to have my turn signal switch replaced so I had the mechanic replace the wiper switch on the column also. But a short time later the wipers still malfunctioned. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar malfunctions and how they fixed. Cause here in Florida when it rains it pours and without wipers can be very, very tricky driving.

I also had a 2006 Chevy SSR that developed the same problem and it turned out to be the electrical connections under the cowling cover needed to be sealed with silicone.

 

Welcome to the site, just to clarify, did the wipers quit before the mechanic changed the master wiper switch , or after?
possibly the fuse is loose in the fuse box?
