I also had a windshield installed, PPG with tint, nothing wrong here!

Possible to have come from the factory not sealed correctly??

If so now I'm paranoid after reading that some folks who are having windshields replaced or resealed are now having water problems because the installers are cutting some membrane etc ??

Who was that who said they had the windshield resealed??

This could also be poorly fitting aftermarket glass, not just the installer or installation kit. I once had a VW that took SIX tries before they got no leak. The last one installed was a VW windshield! Some of the aftermarket stuff just doesn't fit right!

 

it's a gm windsheild. It doesn't seem to be a problem with adhesives. The winndsheild sticks out at the top, as if it is over bowed. They have tried 2 other manufactures then decided to go with the gm. I'm starting to think it's the car and not the windshields.

 

Are you sure??? Didn't think GM made windows any longer (may be wrong). Usually PPG, Carmex, Safelite, some Dupont, etc......at least for the HHR.

 

My first 2 windshields said GM on them. They were both made by Crinamex. My PPG is much better.

 

I'm getting my new windshield installed as I type...

I was driving to work last night, and the vehicle in front of me ran over what seemed to resemble a sway bar..... Well, needless to say it took out the entire windshield. One thing I will say is the GM glass did stay together very well. The chunk of debris was tossed into the air and I hit it while taveling over 65 mph...... There was a ton of small pieces that flew everywhere inside the car after the impact, but the steel bar didn't make it through the window....But it sure was close..........

There have been a few people saying I was very lucky, including the guy who is installing the the new windshield. I just hope this new one is as good or better than the old one.... It's a PPG with the tint strip at the top.....

BTW..... do you believe the prices that they are charging for these windows installed? I only called around to the two places in town.....and the quotes I recieved were $622.00 and $730.00. I went with the $730.00 qoute because they could do it today, and it saved the hassle of getting a rental....even though I have rental insurance...lol.... I don't really care about the price either because I have window replacement from my insurance also, but if I had to come up with that out of my pocket I would be pretty pissed.....Regards

 

I couldn't believe it myself. I was told by multiple places it was due the design of the window. The plastic piece that encases the window massively adds to the price from what they were saying.

 

Final total......after tax, labor, materials........ $806.95......man.... I'm in the wrong business
