wish me luck...and a question
Tomorrow morning at 8:45 I'm taking the HHR in to see about service before the warrranty is up (in 150 miles ). I know that there is a problem with the brakes by the shuddering and shaking steering wheel when I stop. I have a clunking noise in the front end and I can feel it in the floor & steering wheel when I turn sometimes. Usually when I'm not going very fast, almost always when I'm backing out of my driveway. I can also hear a weird rattling sound when I go over bumps at 25-35 mph. My armrest tilts down at a horribly uncomfy angle. I want my horrible looking bowties replaced. Lastly I want to ask about having the shield installed to prevent my radiator from getting punctured. Oh, and oil change and tire rotation.
I have only dealt with a dealership one other time for warranty repairs to replace the upper control arm on my Ranger YEARS ago. That wasn't a fun experience. The only time I can make it there is right after work. So basically, I've been up today since 3pm and am working 12 hours then taking the car there. Do you think all of that can be done in one day? Any ideas how long it might take? I have 2 books with me, do I need to stop and get another one or something else to keep me amused? LOL!

You probably won't need the books. They will probably only look at it and need to order parts. Then you'll need to reschedule. I hate that...
The armrest can be fixed very easy. There is a TSB for the dealer but that seems to be hit and miss. Its probably easier to fix it yourself. There is a thread in the How-To section.
The other problems are typical. The shuddering is the warped rotors. The clunking is either the steering column or the half shaft. The weird rattling hasn't been definitively found yet (gremlins I think).
Good luck.

Wow...you were right. Pretty much the only thing they did today was the recall & my oil change. They had to order like all the other parts. I guess they think they know what the rattling is, the guy just told me they ordered a part for it. So now I wait for them to call me to make my next appointment. It was my first time at this dealership and I got a great impression from them. Hopefully it will continue when I go back to get the actual work done.
