DumbA-- mechanics always blame computers because they scare them. Magic=scarey. Probably because scanner couldn't communicate.

Ok rear ended; take a look at the current sensor that plastic ring around the negative wire near the battery. Check the maxi fuse there, too.
Does the key have the + inside a circle?
By relevant do you mean fuse #29 under hood? Easy way to check with a VOM probe the "cig lighter" should be always hot.
Could be the impact knocked the fuse box akimbo.
You can remove the key?
I'm in a wheelchair, too. You seem to be able to do more than I can.

Original key. She only had 1. Removes easy. Fuse and red wire connection near battery good. Have a hard time reaching under hood. 3 cushions and a Pepsi crate. Cig lighter hot.

It's the BCM that controls these things. That would be the one to replace if you are throwing computers at it. You will need the 30 minute relearn in that case and the radio won't work and the speedo/odo won't work.
Fuse #10 & #8 on the BCM is for the Theft Deterrent Module.

need to check the start relay for signal and power. Should be able to force the starter by jumping pins 30 & 87 on the fuse box, 1 of them should be hot if the fuse is good. The control is on either 85 or 86. Anyway, 2 pins should be hot and one NC one ground; the NC will be the signal (ground). You need to find out if the signal or the power is being inhibited.
