XM Radio will not activate

2011 HHR xm radio will not receive activation code. I can read radio ID on radio and have spent about an hour on phone with techs with them sending activation signal to radio.
Radio receives fm signals in strong area while in city. Loses signal as AI leave city.
I pulled radio from dash. Removed antenna and plugged back in on right back side. Did not remove plug with all wires on left side for fear of having to have dealer reprogram the install.
Is there only one antenna plugged into radio?
In the back center of the radio there is a white protrusion with nothing attached to it.
Vehicle just exceed the 37,000 miles.

Not to sound stupid, but is your car out in the open when trying to activate the XM? As in, not in a garage, beside a building, or under tree limbs?
No expert here, but I do remember when my XM was active, that it was very easy to "lose" the satellite signal under the above circumstances. The easy loss of their signal was one reason I didn't renew it.

That's ok. Having had xm as over the road trucker and remembering losing signal in the moutains, I moved the car to a football size field. Still no luck

Yeah, you probably know more about XM than I do.
Fwiw. I know I still receive their signal, because the XM preview channel will still work for me. If you aren't getting the preview channel, then I would assume it is a signal problem.
Otherwise, I got nothing else. Sorry.
