09 HHR SS vs 08 Cobalt SS/TC

So I raced a cobalt the other day. 7 races. We did 4 races from a stop, he got me by 1 -1 1/2 each time, he has alot better tires. We did a few 40-120 rolls aswell and it was door to door with noone pulling. Now for the mods:

HHR SS:
Full weight + extra various stuff
Full tank of gas
Catless Downpipe
K&N Drop-in
HP Tune by myself

Cobalt:
No spare, jack, trunk carpet, nothing except the driver
Riding on E
Full 3" Catless exhaust
Dejon IC piping
Dejon SRI
Relocated MAF to coldside and added BOV
Trifecta 25 psi tune

He has had multiple trifecta tunes ever since they first had them for the LNF. He was one of the first to get a trifecta tune from trifecta and was one of their "tester" cars.

He was not very happy with the outcome since he isnt nearly as heavy as I am, shifted perfectly, has more mods and more boost.

He went and got HP tuned by the local tuner that night and is alot happier now. I'm sorry to say but this is just a little bit of proof that where trifecta may be good at tuning, they just are not as good as a fully custom tune via HP tuners. I'm sure the trifecta+hpt tune would be better than just HPT though, especially since he will be going with a 50 trim turbo soon.

BYT (when he had HPT only) raced someone with a Trifecta tune and said it was close. He said the Trifecta tunes were a monster in the mid, he had to play catch up in the mid, but actually pulled harder up top with HPT. The best I can remember both were cobalt ss/tc's running similar mods but different tunes.
No one isn't saying that HPT can't be faster then Trifecta, the difference is HPT is most Aggressive, Trifecta, LNF upgrade, stock.

The problem with the majority of us is we don't have HPT tuners in our area (I've found 2 and they don't have the credits for the HHR SS, Cobalts SS/TC only), so in order for us to have the tune we would have to buy credits for the tuner (then you just bought him access to a whole new platform to make money with) or buy HPT ourselves and then pay a tuner for files.
Another problem with HPT is, if something goes wrong and you drove to get HPT flashed by someone, unless you have HPT you've got to have a way to go get it fixed/changed.
My only other problem with HPT currently is they aren't doing **** for support anymore, thus why alot of the HPTuners are buying the Trifecta/HPT for new features and updates.
I've already talked with Vince for the update and BYT to do the tune, its just alot of money to dump into tuning to have the best overall tune.

So can someone provide a breakdown of the HPT/Trifecta tunes and compare them? I want something with more off the line, less up top. If anything I'm just trying to get some better times in the 1/8mi, don't plan to break any speed records! lol I was always curious which is better, cheaper, easier to use, etc...

I agree, my tune is alot more agressive than a trifecta tune, except that vince likes to run his tunes CRAZY rich. I bought HP Tuners for $225 used with 4 credits and tuned 2 cars with it. The 2 credits are only $100 plus how much the tuner wants to tune the car. I know that trifecta tuned cars have had more engine problems than a good HP tuner. I tune my car myself. BYT was doing tuning but like most email/"mail order" tunes take too long and I got tired of waiting. It is ultra easy to tune a LNF.

Cmiller, I agree he should've won but noone was pulling at all from the roll. The guy I raced has been trifecta tuned since the beginning but he said he got tired of fighting with vince to get a more agressive tune. He said he might even end up selling the cable he has because of it. My local tuner is now a dealer for trifecta and will end up tuning all 3 of the local big turbo cobalts soon. The guy I raced is one of them, granted he will only have a 50trim.

hpt dont offer selection tune. some people wants it and you have to deal with it.
if you ve speak with vince about run richer, its maybe because it the way it go to get good hp and long term reliability i dont know how many lnf he has tuned, but i know i ve tuned more car that you did.

mike perperni trap 111 mph with only a tune.

When you brag about something make sure to get it on video... your friend'S cobalt may have an issue not related with the tune

He has been tuned by trifecta for almost 2 years now, on 22psi it only put down 297whp 322wtq. He was running a 25psi tune.
The race is on vids and he is ALOT faster now with the HP tune. My other friend with a tune only ss/tc has ran 13.18@108.9, stock with tune and thats only because our track just doesnt have the prep for all seasons to be faster than that. He runs with 114mph+ cars now and beats them on the street.

I dont see how I'm bragging that I went door to door with someone that didnt have an optimal tune. Thats just how it is. My car has been tuned for over 30k now on 100% stock parts except I added a k&n drop in and a catless DP in the last 2k. No problems whatsoever. I realize that this forum is all about the trifecta tunes, theres no way for me to change that. My local tuner has tuned ALOT of cars, not just LNFs. He has been tuning for years before the LNF was developed and also has a 3 cavaliers that have over 350whp, 2 of which are daily drivers. His 450whp/450wtq cavi is a 2.2L. His wifes dd turbo'd sprayed cavi is a 2.4 and his DD is a ld9 s/c 2.4 aswell. He has tuned multiple 400+whp cobalts.

I'm sorry that I dont need to push a button to switch to a tune, its not a big deal to me. I have NO problems with my tune whatsoever, still running stock plugs and have no problems. I saw that you didn't even beat the staged cobalt. I know I have beat a full bolt on staged cobalt from a roll in my HHR on a tune I was only pushing 15* timing. I am running 22.5* timing right now on a max of 22psi. It just not needed to push the turbo to 25psi. 25psi is the max the turbo will put out EFFICIENTLY. It could push 30psi in the low end, but you'd be running on borrowed time.

Edit: Went and watched your vid. It looks like the HHR vid you posted wasnt you unless you have the HHR and ss/tc. Injen intakes cause problems alot of the time so its possible thats why he cant run as fast as I've ran in my HHR. It also looks like my friend that was running tune only has ran a faster time than you but not the trap speed. I do know that he doesn't NLS any gears when he runs and has ran multiple 13.1's tune only at almost 109. There are vids of him putting 5+ cars on a 05 mustang gt with full bolt ons, cams, and gears. He lost to a g8(on spray) by 3 cars that traps 120 granted he has full bolt ons and the tune now but still hasn't broken into 12s yet and his fastest trap is 110.8.

can you tell me why hhr tune gm is way slower that the cobalt tune gm.

the drag coeffiecent and the weight have a big affect against hhr.

may 297 whp is not much for you but it is enough to have fun
