The Hunt for 13s Continues

I made another trip to the track this past Saturday. I was pretty confident that I'd be able to get into the 13s. Last year my best was a 14.2x. Since then I had installed a new motor mount, downpipe, intercooler, intake, and slicks. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

My best run was my first, a 14.001 with a 2.1 60ft. I know, painfully close. I was still spinning off the line. So I decided to air down the slicks and give it another shot. I didn't spin at all on the second run, but it felt like it kinda fell on it's face when it reached full boost. That run ended in a 14.09. I let it cool down for a while and then gave it another try. My third run went similar to my second. Except this time, when it felt like it was falling on its face I looked down and saw the cel flash for a split second. That run was a 14.2x. I took it back to the pits and damned if it hadn't thrown a code for #1 cylinder misfire. At that point I decided to call it a day before I hurt the motor. So it was kind of a disappointing day. Better luck next time I guess.

On a better note, I probably would have still made it well into the 13s if it weren't for the 90 degree temp and a DA of just under 6500ft. Racing at altitude sucks.

Yup, if the ambient air temp was closer to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, you'd have probably broken into the 13's.

A good drop in ambient temps can somewhat offset a high Density Altitude, have you considered water injection to further cool the intake charge?

Yeah. I've considered it. I just don't know enough about it to install it yet. Plus, I've heard it's a pain to tune for. I don't know how true that is since, again, I don't have any experience with it.
