Recommended SD Dealer for Stage 1 Install?

Hello everybody! Can anyone recommend a dealer/service in the San Diego for a Stage 1 (turbo upgrade kit) install? Looking for a service center that is familiar with the install... meaning, my vehicle won't be the "test one" and the install will be done within the 1 hour-ish labor estimate.

I recently saw a post recommending a dealer in Van Nuys; however, it would be great if I could find someone closer.

Thanks all and drive safe!

Let me know when you find out. I went to Courtesy in Mission Valley where I bought mine, which on the GMPP site, is the local GMPP retailer/installer, and when I asked them about it, they freaked. They claimed that I would have to schedule it so a GMPP rep could come to the dealer to do the install, an he acted like they themselves wouldn't touch it, even to the point he said it was "Scary!". So if you find 1 close by, let me know, hopefully mine will be arriving here shortly.

Scratch Courtesy, I keep asking different people there, and they keep crying they are scared to do it (and have never done 1), but apparently they have sold kits there that are on back order. Either way, I guess we'll have to contact some of the other dealers.

Oh, and they don't even know what CED is or that it is a Chevrolet parts dealer! lol

damronjr,

I'll ask the service department folks up at Quality Chevrolet in Escondido on Saturday. So far, I'm leaning towards Rydell's Chevrolet in Van Nuys. I know they've done at least one and charged approximately 2 hours labor for the install (could be more/less). Seems like I've got all kinds of info, but I haven't even ordered the kit yet! lol

Glad to see that you got your ride back. Were you pleased with the work? I also hope that you got your dead battery issue resolved. I have a v-rod m/c that has the same issue. I have to keep it on a trickle charger if I don't ride it (moderate distance) at least once every two weeks. Before the trickle charger, I had a couple of instances where I would leave home, drive a short distance (errands) and then find that the battery was dead upon restart (sucks so bad). Eventually, I had H-D replace the battery under warranty and I've baby'd it ever since.

Good luck!

Let me know what they say at the Esco. dealer. I will try to call some of the others around here and see what they say. I'm with you in I'd rather have a shop that has at least done 1 before and can give me a reasonable install estimate! The body work was good. Looks like new! And so far the battery seems to be good, but it could be that it just hasn't lost its charge yet, as even the last 1 took like 6mo to start dying.

Just got off the phone with City Chevrolet off Morena Blvd, they said they haven't done the HHR, but have done kits for the SS/SC Cobalts and would be willing do to our HHRs, most likely in a 2hr install period. He said this kit sounds much simpler than the SS/SC Cobalt stage kit, so it shouldn't be a problem, which gave me a feeling of confidence I definitely didn't get from Courtesy! lol

Picked up our new HHR SS today from Quality Chevrolet... it... is... awesome! Spoke with the Service Consultant (Diego Paz) about the Stage 1 kit install. He said they haven't installed a kit on an HHR SS; however, they've done a few Stage 1 kits on Colbalt SSs. He sounded confident and estimated the labor to be 1-2 hours. I told him that I did not have the kit yet and he asked me to email pics of the components (for his tech), when I did. I got a pretty decent feeling from their staff.

Glad the body work came out great.

Sounds about the same as the response and feeling I got from City, so either 1 works for me. I think City os closer to me, but either way works for me.
