Aftermarket SS CV Boot?
My 2008 HHR SS 5-Speed F35 trans, needs a new passenger-side outer CV boot. The local parts stores do not show a listing for the boot, just the entire axle assembly for about $80. The Dealer wants $66 for the boot kit! I'm leary of aftermarket and/or rebuilt axles. I'd rather repair my original axle. The joint is not damaged, I caught the leak soon after it started.
Thanks!

If the boot is broken the joint has been damaged from dirt water etc.
A new axle costs about $10 more than a rebuilt, but the rebuilts are better. Replacing a boot will take 3 times as much time and work.
Whatever you decide to do; make sure that the number of bellows on the new boot match the old boot. Personal experience is that a smaller number will break in very short order.
