Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
After starting the engine this morning, I noted the "Check Engine" light illuminated. After checking for a code, I saw it was for an "Air Mass Sensor" problem... I'm a newbie to the HHR SS and this engine, is that a common issue? Blow it out? Replace it? Or???? Thanks!

If you want to ask about CEL codes, you should post up the actual number and not the generic description.
Fwiw. My code list doesn't show a "Air Mass Sensor" code. It does however show several codes labeled Mass Air Flow(MAF) Sensor.

Thanks for your responses! NO, I did not recently change the air filter. However, I did some "small things," like checking the MAF connector and wiring, "jiggled" some of the black plastic tubing in and around the MAF Sensor, looked for some obvious air leaks, "jiggled" and moved some the "stuff" just a bit - including checked to see if the MAF Sensor electrical connector was loose, and pushed on it to be sure it was tightly connected. Then, reset the code that was displayed, started the engine, and the "Check Engine" light was extinguished - EUREKA! I have driven the car about 50 miles since and the "Check Engine" light has remained OFF.... Maybe it was "jiggling" and moving some of the "stuff" just a bit.... "Lucky," maybe - Keep watching for the "LIGHT" - you betcha... Thanks!!

IF that fixed the problem the CEL would go off by itself, now ALL of the I/M testing will have to complete before you know if it's fixed. That can take 2 weeks.
It is bad policy to clear codes just because you can.
