HHR SS 08 and 09 brake loss upon startup

They dealer may not fix it but the point is it will be reported to GM and if they have enough issues of this on the 5 speed a new flash could be made to work with the present pump that is out to make it work with this kit.
We have had only a few cases reported here on the 5 speed when nearly all of the early automatic got it at some point. We also use the remote start to get more run time before we left in the AM. Not an option for you.
You also may hjust have a leak in the booster too and they can fix that.

I have an Auto and the brake fix, but if I crank it up and go even with the fix, I still get the bad brake feel. sorry folks nothing gonna fix the small amount of time it takes to charge vacumn. But I would think as a rule of thumb, you would want to wait till the car's RPM's settled and your boost gauge reads near -20 anyway... conciously this is my thinking, but if the brakes wern't an issue I would still wait a little bit anyway. its never good to start any motor, and within 5-10 seconds put it under load. another .02 (i got to be getting close to a dollar)

I lived with mine for 6 months till they made a fix. One should really let the engine run a little before you plop it into gear anyway.
I managed fine but it is nice to have repaired.
The key is to get all the people with 5 speeds to report it and complain and they may fix it. If not reported GM will never do anything.

Ended up buying.
After starting this thread I was really concerned about this problem (vacuum / breaks) because I bought a late model 09 with less than 10 k miles on it. So far no break problems and I can see why you guys still like your rides so much!
To bad its the last year for this model, it was really a piece work!

Add to that the fact the guys who fixed the HHR suspension are now working on the new cars from the start now. No more taking a present car and making it better as they have most better from the start.
The new Regal is only the first shot with many of the new cars we are to see.

Thats great news that GM will be working on more performance oriented cars. I heard last year sometime that they had broken up their performance division but strangely enough a website still exists and doesn't say anthing about the division being disbanded.
No doubt the recession and GM's bankruptcy had alot do with the model cancellations.

Me too
Just took mine in for the brake problem. There is more to it than just a vac cylinder. They told me that there is electronic and mechanical problems both that have to be adressed. At least 600 in parts plus labor. Not a cheap fix. Havent got the car back yet to see what all they replaced and repaired but ill let you know when I do.
