I'm pretty sure the Ford Fusion is made in Mexico and is a well-made car.

That's because:

1) It shares most of its components with the Sierra/Silverado.
2) It has been around longer (early 2000's) of time compared vs the ones I mentioned that were all created in the mid 2000's.

Are you guys really going to argue that cars made in Mexico arein general as well built as vehicles made in Japan, Germany and most in Canada and the U.S.?

Yup, you are right on that one and I agree it is a good car. Point taken, guess I am just frustrated at times with the poor quality and start to over generalize.

Maybe my comment should adjusted to read-poorly assembled car that uses cheap parts and may be assembled anywhere.

In 2008 the Canadian list price for a new HHR SS was $28.5K. Sunroof and LSD were options back then and so was MP3 so mine was stickered near $30k. I saved $5000 off of this due to family discount and GM Points.

Now in 2010 you can buy a Sierra/Silverado Cheyenne Edition- 4x4 Crew Cab with $1500 in free chrome accessories for $29.5k (after GM discount of over $10k). I can still apply the family discount and GM points to this truck if I bought one and would be under $25k.

Not much difference in price for, IMO, a big difference in vehicle.

The Honda CRZ is out, it seats 2. I have 2 kids.
I looked at the Fusion Hybrid but it's not a wagon and the seats don't fold down.

The test will be this weekend when my wife & I drive the Prius to NYC & Back.

Okay, I admit that the Fusion is a good car and there may be a few more, but overall during the course of the automobile, Mexico is NOT going to rank at the top of quality standards chart.....I will not concede to that. Germany, Italy, Japan...and Mexico, you can't even convince yourself of that, even if it is to prove a point.

Well it's not like they have no standards! We're not talking about a Mexican car company that develops and makes cars in Mexico...we're talking about cars that are designed in America, Germany, or wherever depending on the model...then they are made to specifications in a state of the art facility which is identical to one in the US.
