Overboosting way past normal.

Overboosting way past normal.
Every now and then, mine will overboost. I'm talking 26psi + according to the gauge. Do I need to make adjustments to the wastegate? I don't drive the car hard often but when I do, this happens. I would feel much safer if it would max out at 22 PSI.

Mine is doing the same thing. I have a 08 Auto that is having problems with the turbo. Mine will boost at 26#'s but mine is throwing a CEL of 'over boost'. My car has been in the shop 7 times for turbo problems, and is currently back in the shop. So far the dealership has redone the connectors on the stage kit, put a new intake temp sensor, new PCM, wired the temp sensor directly to the PCM. As of now they opened a case with GM specialty Department and I'm waiting to here from them. I really think that my problem and the problem your having is the lower T-Map sensor hitting the compressor, but the dealership that is working on my car assures that it's not the problem. I'll keep you informed on what they do next on mine so hopefully it will shot you in the right direction.

Didn't some say this was caused by dirt/oil in the wastegate causing it to stick closed? the reasoning in getting a puke can on the pcv or something... damnit I can't remember exactly on the puke can location but I think the theory is sound.

My Lower map isn't touching the AC Compressor so thats out of the question. I'll putt around until kholtzclaw gets back to us. If anyone else has this issue, post up any findings.
If I knew the engine could handle it, I wouldn't be worried. LOL

26psi on the how lean the stage kit runs is pretty crazy. Do you actually throw an overboost code on the stage kit? I remember putting the pill mod into my friends cobalt right after the stage kit on the stock tune and it hit like 30psi and no overboost codes.

My gauge will touch 28-30 most of the time i hit WOT. Had a code for this once. I turned the code off. No more worries. I've been running with this setup for over a year nad have had no issues. With a TECH 2 the boost PSI will actually read 40lb before I close throttle. Then it spikes to 44lb
I'd be looking for a way to turn the code off.

camaro98z28, sorry it's been a while since I got back to you but the dealership just gave me my car back. They found out that my car had a bad wastegate actuator assembly. The assembly comes with all new vacuum lines with it so I'm not sure if it was a vacuum line or the actuator itself. So far mine seems to be back to normal, it's holding boost like it should and won't boost over 23 pounds like before. I hope this helps you with yours...good luck.
