Overboosting way past normal.

My gauge will touch 28-30 most of the time i hit WOT. Had a code for this once. I turned the code off. No more worries. I've been running with this setup for over a year nad have had no issues. With a TECH 2 the boost PSI will actually read 40lb before I close throttle. Then it spikes to 44lb
I'd be looking for a way to turn the code off.

I seem to have a similar issue. At 55,000+ trouble free miles, it is acting like the waste gate is stuck. It will boost to over 23 psi even at part throttle, and if I leave it at high boost for more than about 3 seconds it will go into a "limp mode" until the engine is turned off or the cel is cleared.
I removed the tune back to stock (which should yield about 15 psi) and it boosts to exactly the same level (23 psi plus). Going to take a look at the linkage, etc this weekend, and also check the MAP sensor (although wouldn't that affect the readout too?). Sure has snappy throttle response though!

Follow up to my post above. I replaced the Wastegate Actuator (it is a small solenoid with three ports on it for vacuum and pressure). Pain to get the hoses off because of tight access. The new one fixed my problem of overboost (24 psi at anything over about 1/2 throttle) and stopped the error codes since it is now operating properly.
This Actuator can fail in other ways that cause "underboost", but in my case it was the opposite problem.

I paid full retail at about $150.00. It could have been warranty but I did not want to hassle with leaving it at the dealer and a possible question about engine mods affecting warranty.
And by the way, it now runs so super smooth and crisp (about 22 psi max boost with Hahn/PPC Tune) that I am wondering if it may have partially failed earlier and that somehow affected part throttle operation too.
