P0101 question...I know, not another one

I have been reading through some threads here, now that my new air filter/SRI seems to have triggered a CEL and I have a question that I cant seem to find the answer for. Is the P0101 code strictly for a dirty MAF sensor? or can it be a number of things dealing with the MAF sensor? my superchips programmer can read and clear the code for me. however, the car will go into limp mode with no code, and the only way I have solved this issue is to shut the car off and restart it....some other info:

Sometimes I have a CEL, sometimes I dont

I Can clear the code but then the car will go into limp mode shortly afterwith no code

It always seems to go into limp mode while cruising, never while accelerating or WOT

I have a new Spectre airfilter, and 6" spectre pipe(3" in diameter)

stock MAF sensor secured to the stock section of the airbox I cut apart

the new filter is almost in the same spot at the old filter, just no box

Any help is greatly appreciated

Our cars don't seem to like anything but the stock filter.

Ater I put my ZZP intake on, I started get this code and go into limp mode in the same situation. Usually while at a steady cruise and only a restart would resolve it. Once I tuned with HPTuners to account for the change in airflow, I haven't seen it again.

So, it wasn't a dirty MAF, it was more the MAF couldn't account for the change in air and was feeding skewed numbers to the ecu, thereby throwing me into limp mode.

yea I returned my filter...I ordered a K&N anyway, but they have a paper filter in stock, so if I have problems with the K&N I'll return it. for now I have a filthy factory filter, BUT no CEL

JAXFL_SS is correct. The MAF needs to be calibrated for any intake changes. Not sure if Superchips can do this.

I've been running a k&n filter almost five years, never this issue. I'll post the item number on Friday when car is out of shop.

This might help.... Try removing the three plastic pieces around the top and sides of radiator. It will get more cold air in there.
