Car can run so much stronger with a tune......08 banshee was having similar problems and He was tuned for the intake, switched back to the box with K&N, no more codes. Some of these cars have a little Christine in the computer, mine included.

I was just using a stock replacement K&N in the factory box. As previously noted, it was already installed when I bought the car in March.

Sorry, I don't see where you cleaned the MAF, Mine had a little crud in there when I did it at 65K, and 08 banshees needed it at 30 something, I've added that to the yearly check. Worth a try if you haven't done it yet.

Does anyone know what you gain with a K&N filter. When I installed it on a previous car, the consensus was a gain of 5 HP maximum, without a cold air intake.

Can't tell you on an SS BUT, on the 2.4 it's approx. 1 1/2 HP according to a dyno test (4-5 pulls, that was the best).

I can tell you there isn't enough of a gain to offset the loss.....of my hair from me pulling it out when my car goes into limp mode

And the hp difference probably had nothing to do with the filter.

Very possible. The pulls were done over a 4 hour period on 5 aftermarket filters.

I've noticed in the past on other vehicles a slight increase in fuel economy on the highway with the K&N.

My favorite part is not having to replace an air filter every 10-15k miles because it's dirty.

Heeeey im back. My 2 cents
I love my k&n. No cel. No tune. But i run with no lid. And have an exhaust. I wonder why some of these bad boys are more sensitive. Might also be how you drive it. Im trying to break stuff so I have a reason to upgrade so I run it hard.
