SS M/T Clutch Pedal Return Spring

SS M/T Clutch Pedal Return Spring
I replaced my clutch pedal return spring at 110K, now needed again at 170K miles. Internet shows it is "able to be ordered", but this appears to be false, and the dealership locator shows discontinued and none in stock in U.S. and Canada.
Part number "GM 25867553 Spring Kit, Clutch Pedal Return"
The remaining 2/3 of my spring is hanging on by one leg. I saw a non-SS manual HHR at the Pull-A-Part today - similar design, but much thinner wire. I may go back tomorrow and get it, just to see if it fits and does anything. Else, this may be a MacGyver fabrication job with some sort of linear coil spring ......

I found one thread about the Corvette spring. It was never verified that it worked.

Hopefully I can save you some time and $.
I have tried the Corvette and Camaro springs listed, None of them are decent replacements.
Yes, with some work, you can make them "fit" but they are either too large or small. And the clutch feel is terrible and clunky.
You have 3 choices from my experiences of trying to find a decent replacement -
1) find a used one at wrecking yard. (Hard to find)
2) find a company that makes custom springs, like Old blue posted the link too. (Expensive)
3) replace it with a standard spring of your choice from a hardware store. ( Requires a little bit of creativity to find/drill a hole for the spring to attach under the dash)
Unless $$ is no object I would recommend 1 or 3.
If you are more successful than I was, and find another replacement option, please share!
