Im thinking of going with 225/45/18 to dill the wheel we'll more since im not lowering and to get as soft a ride as I can with them. I was worried about them not looming wide enough for the 8" rim

That is why I went 255x40, they fit by 1/8th,top front and back. it is 26 exactly. The extra width lines the tread patch up with wheel lip, allowing the side wall to work like a shock absorber. I'm pleased with the tire because they are flexible. At 32lbs rides like a limo. 38 handles like a race car, so I set them at 33 cold, I like the smooth roll around town, and they warm up to 37 on the highway, just in case some evasive maneuvers are needed.

Maybe a little on the race car part, your springs and struts are a little softer. But it will ride softer too.

In case you were asking me offset 55, I added a 15mm H&R so effectively 40

Well I went with 225/45/18 which is recommended size without a need for spacers. Can't wait!

Don't know what the spacer has to do with it, if your new wheel is 40 offset you don't need spacer. Which tires did you pic ??
