Anyone have a wheel stuck to the rotor?

I have a 2008 SS with stock SS wheels and was just starting to replace the front brake pads. Took the lug nuts off but the tire wont budge. This is the first time to ever take the wheels off as they have never been removed. Seems like it is stuck to the rotor. Any idea on what is going on? Could it be that the back of the wheel is stuck due to some reaction between the steel rotor and the aluminum wheel? Any ideas on what to do?? Thanks.

I had one of my 2LT wheels stuck the first time I tried to take it off, could have been the first time it was removed at about 20K...... I put the lug nuts back on and then backed them off a hair. Then I let it off the jack so the tire was on the ground, (no jack or stands at this point) I backed the car up a few feet, forward again a few feet. Jacked it up again and it came right off........ Just make sure the lug nuts are almost all the way on, but not tight, so you don't damage the studs or wheels.

Thanks for the info Greybeard. I'll try that. I have about 28k miles on the HHR and have never had the wheels off yet. I'll let you know how that works.

Thanks Sunflowerhippi. I have given it a good shot with WD40 already and it has now sat a while. If that doesn't work then PB Blaster will be the next method of attack!

A good kick to the tire after the lugs are off should do the trick!

That didn't work on mine...... Thus the "extreme" measures.
