Custom Centercaps for 18" SS Wheels

I recently found (4) new OEM 18" Cobalt SS Wheels (2005/06) in "Hyper-Silver" color on eBay and purchased them as replacements for my, 16" steel wheel equipped, 2010 HHR for a more thug-ish look for the Panel.

I wasn't all that crazy about adding (4) more Bowties to my ride, Chevy had spent plenty of time & resources accomplishing that task for me, so I had a fabricator friend spin & punch some custom centercaps/backing plates out of 7071 Aluminum.

The caps & backing plates were then Hard Coated (anodized) and mechanically fastened to the wheels from the inside.

Mounted up a new set of 225/45/18ZR Continental Extreme Contact DWS Tires and she rolls free & easy...

Here's a few pics:

Centercap to Wheel color match... Not bad!:

Stamp out a few dozen more. I don't think I'm gonna like the Pontiac sign on my new wheels.

No kidding. I was looking for some of these when I had my steel rims. I wanted to get that Interceptor feel on my HHR.. But I didn't know anyone who knew anyone who could do this.

These wouldn't fit the steel wheels, Kevin. It would take considerably more work and material to do what you needed.

Re-read my post.... I highlighted it for you. These caps are nothing like the ones you needed, other than the fact that they are metal.

To the OP.... sorry for the off topic. Nice work on yours.
