Experts please help!!!

Hi guys! As i already wrote in another thread, i want to switch from factory wheels to these American Racing Torque Thrust Ms on my black 2007 LT.

Now i know these are originally for Stangs and therefore have a boltcircle of 5x114.3 but i've heard and seen that they can be redrilled to fit our 5x110 bolt pattern.

From what i read on this forum, the HHR LT standard wheels are 17x7" with 42mm backspace. Correct? So i've narrowed down the selection of Torque Thrust wheels that i prefer to the following sizes:

17x8" - offset 0 - backspace 4.5

17x8" - offset 30 - backspace 5.68

18x9" - offset 24 - backspace 5.94

18x9" - offset 34 - backspace 6.34

For tire width i'd like to go with 235 or maximum 245. But i got no clue about the tire height to match the factory wheel diameter as close as possible. I also just installed Eibach pro springs that lowered my car 30mm front and rear.

Of course the wheels should not rub and if possible i'd like to avoid using spacers.

What do you think would be the best wheel size to get and what tire dimensions do i need for them?
My initial guess would be that 17x8 is more on the safe side, while 18x9 might rub or not fit at all.

Thanks a ton for your help!

Alright folks - i've done my homeworks and got some more informations:

According to car documents the factory wheelsize on my LT seems to be 17x6.5 - the factory tire dimensions are 215 50 R17.

So to keep the overall tire diameter similar, i will most likely go for 245 45 R17 tires on 17x8 wheels. That way the overall diameter would only be .22" taller, which should keep the speedo quite reliable.

Now compared to the 42mm backspace of our factory HHR wheels, the 4.5" bs of the TTs seems way too much. In this case i'd need at least 60mm spacers all around. I can't believe these wheels only come with that much bs. Guess i'll just have to contact a few dealers and ask what's available.

If anyone finds that i made a mistake on the above specifications, please let me know.

The 17 x 8 with the +30 offset should work. I think that they will go right on with any use of spacers. They might stick out a little, but it will be very close. As far as having them redrilled, that child's play. If you need info on redrilling them I can assist you with any info needed.

Thanks Harley!

I've heard that it's possible to order these wheels custom made and already with the right boltcircle. If that's true, i'd prefer of course not having to redrill them.

Guess i'll just have to contact American Racing to find out.

I am thinking of redrilling a set of wheels. they are 114MM. Off a Mustang. I would love to have your input on drilling. Would you email me the info?

Thanks!
