Has anyone ever tried putting 22's?

I have a chance to get some 22" wheels for cheap. but Im not sure if theyll fit. I have 20's on right now, and there seems to be quite a bit of space left. even if they do fit, will I break anything if i do get them? will my tranny/suspension be ok?

Biggest problem might be in a full turn if anything rubs or bumps.

I tried some 22's the other day and they would not fit. I only tried the front. I can't remember what size tire it was but it had a very small sidewall. It was close but you would have to beat the lower spring cup in 3/4" to clear. It also looked as if it would rub the inner fender when turning also. I ended up getting the 20's.

Yeah you can put on 22"s, but there wouldnt be enough room left for a tire.
You could try lengthening the front struts or something and rolling the rear fenders.
For driving on the road on 20s, the tire profile is probably at the limit for safety. You dont want to wreck the new wheels even if you could get a thin enough tire.

Even at 20s I would think the weight of the wheels would start to effect braking performance. 22s would just make that worse. Plus all the clearance issues.

Before I went to 20s I would upgrade the brakes, but hey thats just me..........

I already have 20's on there, ive had them for about 2 years already and braking doesnt seem any different from stock..

Im not planning on doing any custom work on my hhr, I was hoping they would fit fine without any modification... but guess not

I guess ill just keep my 20's then and get some other 20's for my g6 gtp
