Awesome info on the redlines MWG2, Thanks. You guys wanting whitewalls stay away from the Porta walls. I remember them well, I had em on my first car a 67 Grand Prix. They wont last long, but that was all I could afford back then.

 

A long time ago, at least when there were bias ply tires, all of them had white rubber in the sidewalls. The only difference was they used a lathe to cut the black rubber off some wide and some narrow. And then Michelin came along and started making all WW, if you wanted BW, you mounted them inside out. I worked at BIG O in California in the dark ages, we had the city police department contract, they demanded Michelin Radial X tires, but somebody complained about the cops spending tax dollars on White Walls sooo, they all had WW displayed on the inside. Saved lot's of money for Oceanside!
