Love my Firestones!
Seriously, I have seen many posts complaining about the Firestones that came on our HHRs. My 17"s now have 39,000 miles on them and as I look, they seem to be ready for another 8-10K on them. I really have no complaints about them.

They look nice and ride nice in bone dry weather. However rain, snow, a cloud in the sky, a puddle from three days ago - they're about as bad a tire as I've ever owned. They were pitched at 12,500 miles for General Altimax HP's. What a relief they've been.

I found mine to very good in rain. They are not bad, but not great in snow, and are wearing pretty decently. I have 30k on them and they are probably good until next spring, which will put me at 40k or so. I keep the recommended air pressure in them (posted on the door) and rotate every 6k-8k miles. They certainly are not the best tire I've owned (which was Yokohamas), nor are they the worst (which was Goodyear).

In changing from Firestones, has anyone found a tire that is quieter and rides better in a 17" size for a 2LT? I have moved from a Grand Marquis to an HHR, and the 2LT's sport suspension is a bit rougher and noisier. Not a problem really, but if there are better tires, I'll keep it in mind when these wear out. God Bless, Marc

My Firestones are about done. They have just over 50,000 miles on them. They've been okay in dry and wet weather, but they just don't work very well in snow. I was looking at a set of Kumho Ecsta's but am open to other suggestions.

I have 34,500 miles on mine and look like they can go another 20,000. I personally have had no complaints and I (like a lot of you) drive my car hard whether it be dry or raining. (and my transmission can attest to that LOL LOL) If I were to replace them I would probably buy another set of Firestones. I have my original Firestone 500's on my 77 vette with steel wheels (course the car only has 9,900 miles on it) as I wanted to keep it factory original so I never turned them in under the recall (course on the tire rack I have a spare set of factory mags with Goodyear Eagles too ). And to really confuse you for my everyday drivers in the past I have always been a Goodyear fan as evidenced by the Viva's on my 98 Mustang. John

Mine were great had about 30k and they looked brand new, rotated every 5k. I even think they did well in the rain and snow, I got up some passes around here with out chains while others were stopped, all this before the plows got there and a good amount of snow was on the ground. I only changed them cause I got a deal were I traded my steelies and tires for some 17" cobalt rims with pirellis on them.
