Snow tires

OK you So Cal, Hawaii, Florida, Texas, etc guys/gals, some of you don't understand why so many of use are looking into dedicated snow tires.
Well, it is only a little over 2 weeks away from being winter, so I don't have any really deep snow shots yet and this is by no means bad snow.... YET.
Take a look at the beach (Lake Michigan) today.
This is just the beginning (about 2") of a 8" - 12" snow day.
We get lake effect snow. There is no snow storm moving through, it's just the cold wind picking up moisture from the lake. It only snows inland a few miles, in this case up to 20 miles.

Note the snow fence on the beach, no snow dunes.

We get this nasty snow built up in our fender wells.

This is what it looks like when snow and sand mix together.... Snow dunes.

Doesn't it look warm and cozy?

Some of you in the buffalo area and Canadians, send some of your deep snow shots when you get em....

That's why I drive a beater Beretta in the winter...salt & steel don't mix well! The HHR takes a long winters nap!

You are right about that, we have already had a total of well over 2 feet of snow over the last few weeks. It has melted in-between, but it is coming on way too early! The high today is 19F.
At least the lake isn't frozen yet....

Which is exactly why I bailed out of N.J. after the 3' snowfall of Jan. '96 at the ripe age of 32. Snow and ice suck, along with the salt and potassium chloride melters, and I feel for you guys that have to put up with it and the thought of it sitting in the nooks and crannies of your rides accelerating the corrosion process.

We might see a light snow this Sunday in Massachusetts. Today I gave my Miata a quick detailing and put the car cover on. It will sit in a shed for the winter. I do try to drive it at least one day a month thru the winter.

I also did a quick spray detail on the HHR. I live close to the ocean, so between the salt in the air and the salt and sand on the roads, the HHR doesn't stand a chance.

I see you had a flurry. You will have to take some pictures when the real snow arrives. LOL!

I thought snow tires were tires made out of snow like Biff the Michelin man.
