tire size help 225-50-17 fitment

I get much better performance as the Goodyear is a much better tire than the Firecr@p it came with. A 17" tire will always feel a little "stiff" as there's not a ton of sidewall there, say as there is on a 16" with the same diameter. The 225 measurement mostly gives you a wider tire.... not a taller one, and you won't be able to go much taller than this 225/50R17.
Should not effect warranty.... if somebody says it does, I'd try another dealer. Beware, some of these dealers try void your warranty for anything..... like, you know, air-fresheners and such.....

You guys that are running the 225/50R17, can you check to see how much room you have between the top of the front tire and the lower spring perch? I'm wondering if I can fit a set of 215/55R17's on there (26.3" diam). They'd need about 0.225" more clearance than the 225/50R17's. So do you have about a quarter inch clearance there?
Based on my current 215/50R17 tires, it looks like they would fit, but my tires are old
and worn down, so that may be fooling me.

That's going to be brand specific as each brand will have a slightly different actual diameter. Also the shape of the shoulder will have some bearing on fitment as well. If you find a brand that does fit I wouldn't drive down to many gravel roads...... a little bit of clearance is a good thing.
I never took a ruler to it but my finger tips won't even begin to go in that gap and I have skinny fingers.
