Using Lugnut on top of Lugnut

I have Impala hubcaps that fit my HHR but they will not of course stay on or mount because the threaded "nut caps" do not reach the existing HHR threaded nuts. Is it possible to use a standard open holed nut (about 1/2 high when threaded onto HHR stud) and then thread the stock HHR nut on top of that. It would than make it possible to mount the Impala Hubcaps because then the threaded nut caps would reach. Is it possible to do double nuts or could it pose a problem? I need some of you experianced tire guys for this one cause I don't want to cause any safety issues...

Impala hubcaps are a different bolt circle, so the fake plastic nuts won't line up with the lugnuts.

And stacking lugnuts is a generally bad idea anyway. you would only have a few threads holding the second lugnuts on, possibly allowing them to fly off at speed.

Now for my next question. The Impala Hubcaps DO fit (even though impala is 5x115) because I just tried them on the HHR by loosening up the lug nuts (yes car was on jack) and threading the plastic caps right on. Hubcap fits flush and even air valve is in the right spot.

My question is-is there any Chevy or GMC trucks that use threaded nuts for hub caps that are longer than the HHRs but still 12 x 1.5 inside thread. Someones gotta know with all the knowledge out there-help a poor guy out...

Longer studs, try Summit Racing.....probably need 12mm X 2" for double nuts

The noise is just a common thing with any hubcaps... My Lumina does this bad, just as does any car with hubcaps. Why I like alloy wheels.
