I'm not 100% familiar with specs to tires. I wanted to ask about what you all prefer for the differences and why.

I have 16" and wanted to stay with the stock wheels bc i'm not too concerned with appearance. I was curious about different widths and AR's with the 16"

I'm looking for (as close as I can get to all these) fuel efficiency, smooth ride, and mostly tread life.

I will say this much, if you deviate from what diameter the HHR is programmed for, then you will have to have it reprogrammed so as not to have your speedo thrown off.

Honestly foofoo, with your desire to maintain the ride, efficiency, and tread life you're already used to, stick with the stock 215/55/16 size. Instead of looking to change width and aspect ratios, look into premium tires, either "touring" or "performance" varieties.

You will be amazed by the difference changing to anything other than the stock Firestones will bring to your ride and handling. Unfortunately the OEM tires fitted to our HHR's are junk, once you get good tires on, its like driving a different vehicle.

I'm running Continental Extreme Contact DW and DWS tires and love them, but brand choice is subjective and other folks here have their favorites which I'm sure they'll recommend.

I wasn't sure with which are changed, reprogramming the computer was needed. I had a z28 that I had to reprogram due to going from 17" to 18" and couldn't remember the other dimensions.

I was going to go with stock fittings but saw another comment that led me to wonder about other possibilities. Attempting to find the best I can with this. A lot of driving this spring and summer.

843de I guess what i'm looking for is others experiences with the tires because there are so many, i like to hear what people have and how far they've traveled and their tips.

Play around with this. Plug in your stock size and try some other varients. You can compare the overall height and see what they will do to your speedo. But in a nutshell, I'd just stick with the stock size.

SS fan(AKA Sam), probably changes tires the most often of folks here, so his advice is pretty sound at least where what tires work best on an SS are concerned.

My experiences will the stock Firestones were typical of many, noisy, hard riding, awful in the rain, and well just plain awful to be honest.

I tried Michelin Primacy tires on my '07 and I thought they were a good fit until I drove on the first rainy day, then my mind changed fairly rapidly. After ten months of sliding around on them I changed to the Continentals I have now.

I like the Conti's so much that I put them on the other two, the only difference being that I went with the DWS models on the '06 because we take it up into the mountains and it might see snow once or twice a winter.

Its really hard to go wrong with any brand as long as you buy "good" tires, stick with touring tires or performance tires and you'll be happy.

what tires.

I've tried 5 these are the best, so far. I put them on my spouses mobile, all 5400lbs of it, ride sweet. Mine feels like a Cadillac LT2, handles like a race car.

I bought them here, I didn't pay that much, they will match Tire rack's price if you ask them to.
