HHR vs. My Daughter!!!
I saw my HHR pass before my eyes last night...
My youngest (6) and I were in the garage, she needed to get her backpack out of the back of the truskster. So, with the HHR facing in the garage, I start to open the garage door...just as my daughter begins opening the back hatch. I don't realize this until the rear door has been wrenched from her hands and is being pulled up by the garage door! Give that there is only a 1.5' clearance, this is not a good thing.
I was just about to leap back to the garage door opener button, when I saw the fear on my little ones face since she was so close to all of this. So I jumped to her and pulled her away...as the rear hatch and the garage door came screeching to a halt, with the HHR hatch wedged almost parallel with the roof. As I held my youngin, my first thoughts were to squeeze the life from her little body, but I realized crushing her would likely preclude me from driving my HHR, so I controlled myself.
All told, a tiny scratch to the racing stripe vinyl and a small nick in the paint on the edge of the hatch door. Yep, I escaped with VERY little damage!

While at work I quickly looked at the site and When I seen this post as one of the most recent. I had to read it. I was glad to read at the end of the post that your daughter was ok. Sorry about the car. I still have a small ding on the my rear bumper. I should be able to fix it soon.

Darin, I am so glad that your daughter is okay. I am sorry about your rear hatch, though. Hopefully you can get it fixed soon and your truckster will look good as new. Garage doors accidents are common, just ask Mike
